Cerf Island

Cerf Island is a tiny gem nestled in the middle of the Sainte Anne Marine Park, surrounded by a captivating underwater world and vibrant coral reef. With its highest point reaching just 108 meters, the island lacks extensive infrastructure or residential buildings, maintaining its natural charm.

Home to around 100 residents, most of whom commute to work on Mahé via a quick 5 to 7-minute boat ride, Cerf Island offers a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Visitors can access the island via taxi boats provided by hotels, offering flexible transfers.

Despite limited accommodations, Cerf Island exudes a warm family atmosphere, perfect for nature enthusiasts and tranquility seekers.

With no roads or shops, Cerf Island encourages relaxation and immersion in nature. Visitors can enjoy picnics under the trees, Creole barbecues on the beach, or snorkeling in the shallow waters. Day visitors are welcomed with spa treatments, delicious meals, and scenic beach views.

During low tide, it’s possible to walk around the entire island along the beach or explore jungle trails crisscrossing the landscape. Cerf Island is home to rare plant and animal species, including fruit bats, miniature chameleons, and giant tortoises.

A unique snorkeling trail accessible from the beach showcases four well-marked spots, including rare “black corals” and vibrant marine life. At night, the illuminated pier offers a special attraction with a glimpse into the underwater world.
